Why it might work for you, or not
Wonderfully clean and spacious rooms! Gounod's location means you can easily stroll to the beach or enjoy local restaurants.
Poor service tends to detract from the experience! The outdated furnishings and unresponsive staff could leave guests feeling frustrated.

Balcony!
Divorced walls on the 5th floor. It's disgusting.

missingWrote a review on 24 Septdismal servicecold fridge
The beautiful hotel in Nice is sadly marred by dismal service, I mean, how hard is it to keep a fridge cold enough for dog food? Unbelievable. Then, I nearly walked out with a coffee only to be blocked and berated as if I was some sort of criminal. I almost thought of giving a good review, but just couldn't!

In overall, the place is reasonably priced, has amazing friendly staff on the reception desk. It has good sized and newly renovated rooms with a bedroom. The hotel boasts central location easy to access to the airport.
Views are miserable.

The location was lovely and quiet, but not too far from busier areas - best of both worlds! The hotel staff spoke excellent English and were really helpful. The jacuzzi was a good extra, but you have to book a half hour slot in advance and you only find this out when you get there.
There were no tea and coffe making facilities in the room and this meant we weren't able to spend as much time in our room as we would have liked. The fitness room in the Splendid is pretty much non-existant, really disappointing.

The hotel’s chic redesign is impressive, and the staff, especially Frida, were welcoming and attentive. The location was perfect for exploring Nice, being close to restaurants and the beach. The air conditioning left a bit to be desired, making it a bit uncomfortable during the hotter nights.

A small hotel handy for the seafront, staff were quite helpful. It was good being able to use the rooftop pool at the Hotel Splendid next door.
On arrival my sister & I were given a double room despite requesting a twin room. The receptionist said we hadn't asked for a twin but when shown our copy of the booking email changed it.

Nothing
No mini bar, no safe in the room, impossible to get 2 room keys, just 2 soaps as bathroom amenity, a breakfast room that looks like a cafeteria: this hotel is an outrage to French hospitality. Who gave 3 stars to this hotel? The only nice aspect is the façade! Please avoid recommending such proprettes on your Web site.

Charming stay with a dash of adventure
Had a nice 2-night stay! The room was spacious and had a lovely balcony for morning coffee. Staff were super friendly and helped us find cute local spots. Breakfast at the bar/lounge was a nice touch. Loved the accessibility to the tram and city!

Very welcoming small hotel. Easy on-site parking. Modern bathroom complete with amenities. Good sized quiet room with a comfortable bed, flat screen tv, in room fridge, small table and 2 chairs. Plenty of space for suitcase storage. Excellent complete breakfast with great service. Well-priced comfortable clean hotel.
The stairs to the front door...will teach me to pack less! Carpets/furnishings are on the older side, but were perfectly adequate.

We were 4 women and stayed in the 2 BR suite with 4 single beds, a little kitchenette and a big bathroom. It was fantastic. Even though the furnishings are a little grandma-like, our great views and large airy rooms made this our favorite hotel!

The gounod is located in a super chill area, perfect for wandering to shops and eateries. Staff were always friendly, helping with tips, and the breakfast spread was fab with loads of options to fuel up for the day.
housekeeping could be more thorough 😅.

The staff were very courteous and helpful. The hotel is very well situated, within walking distance of both the Promenade and the train station. Having access to the pool/swimming facilities at the Splendid Hotel next door, is a great advantage to have in a three star hotel.

.We had a room overlooking the street but that was no problem as it was very quiet during the night.
The breakfast was wholly satisfying but became a little bit boring when staying a week. A little variation regarding the meat would have been nice.
